From the little I have posted lately, you would think I haven’t been writing. Ha! Just the opposite, actually. Writing so much I haven’t been taking time to edit and post it. So let me let you in on where things stand:

Secrets and Promises – Harry Potter fanfiction series featuring Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter, with a Theo Nott, Pansy Parkinson, Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger and more in the cast. Harry and Draco are Aurors working on a murder investigation and trying to navigate the complexities of their personal lives. [I actually left out some parts of the story when I started posting and may go back an restructure this one a bit to include more about the murder investigation. I had mistakenly though readers would not care about that and be only interested in the sex/relationship stuff. There is a lot of material not posted yet and I think we would be up to something like twelve or more chapters when I get it caught up. This series is written based on the RPG Ambiguous Desire.]

Old Melody, New Dance — (co-authored with nefernat) – Harry Potter fanfiction series featuring Neville Longbottom and Ginny Weasley (now in their early 20s). [I have only published to this site, three chapters but I think we have written 5-6 now. This series is written based on the RPG Ambiguous Desire.]

Draco’s Gift (co-authored with aveeno_baby)  — Harry Potter fanfiction one-shot but which may be getting a sequel. Draco, who has taken the Dark Mark, captures Harry and has a conversation with him. [Since readers have asked for it, my co-author and I have begun work on it. We will let you know how that works out.]

Hex Me or Kiss Me {working title, later changed to Harry Potter and The Bound Prince} (co-authored with sayingsorry_hh) – Harry Potter fanfiction mega-work featuring Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter. This one is an alternative ending to the Half-Blood Prince. [The first work in this series is around 125,000 words and we are already 15,000 into the sequel. We have not published even a single chapter yet. We still have to divide the work into chapters and then get it Beta'd. Volunteers to Beta this one should let me know.]

Blair & Ethan Stories {no titles yet} (co-authored with aveeno_baby) – Original fiction featuring characters Ethan Sanders and Blair Delmar. We have two different versions of their story. One where they meet in boarding school as teens. And a completely different story where they meet in New York in their 20s. [The first version is posted as part of an original RP game called Newport Academy and the second version has not been shared at all yet (but is over 30,000 words.]

Aurora Phoenix {working title}  – Harry Potter fanfiction featuring Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy and an original female character. Also features major flashbacks with Lilly Evans and James Potter. The usual ensemble of characters from the books as well. [I have the entire story arch worked out but have only written the first couple chapters. I haven't posted the chapters but I did post a photo manip and a poetic prophecy from it.]

I have been on a writing binge lately. Love it. Absolutely fucking love it.

After being blocked most the summer, I have been writing pretty steadily for the last couple months. I am pretty sure I have written over 100,000 words over several stories, two-thirds of which are fan fiction and the other third original fiction. One co-authored work I have yet to post from has over 35,000 words so far.

I am very very happy. And I look forward to sharing the fanfic portions here.

Monosexuality = the practice of or the idea that a person can only be sexually attracted to one gender, i.e. homosexual or heterosexual.

It truly floors me how much fanfiction assumes monosexuality as the only option. Characters must be straight or gay. Over and over again. I shake my head sadly. There is certainly overwhelming evidence of bisexuality at the physical, historical and cross-cultural levels. There are now even hundreds of books on the topic. (At least two of my own published books have it in the title.) So why is that so many fanfic authors seem absolutely stuck with the idea that someone can really only enjoy men or women? This is more of a rhetorical question, so, I guess, that makes this entry a rant.

I was recently told by someone that Harry Potter could only be straight because he had been attracted to Cho Chang and Ginny Weasley. Only straight. The idea that he might fancy blokes and not have figured it out by age sixteen, well, that never happens. (Hear massive sarcasm in that please.) I was also told by a game moderator that they wouldn’t let Harry be anything but straight because then the game would only be about sex! Seriously, they said that. Because, of course, if you aren’t straight, that is all life is about, sex. Sigh.

Yeah, I play in some pretty “ship” focused RPGs online. Because I like to read about and write about sex. Even my straight characters have sex. Yes, I am playing at least one straight and one gay character at the moment. (Anyone reading this journal, will note that Neville and Ginny have been having fun. And that Neville in the series is apparently straight.) But the idea that only playing straight characters would focus on the plot just irked the hell out of me.

Then there are the other assumptions about bisexuality, like that we are automatically gonna fuck “anything that moves.” I shocked people when I made one of my Draco RP characters both bisexual and a virgin. I think part of the shock is that Draco is assumed to be so worldly. But there is also an element of bisexuals being assumed be unable to resist sex. The Draco in the game had been estranged from almost everyone he cared about for a long time and unable to have who he really wanted. That meant he choose not to have sex rather than have it without meaning.

One of my pet peeves in most SF/F television shows is that characters are usually only allowed to be bisexual if they are evil. They did it in Star Trek with the mirror universe stuff on Deep Space 9. Damn, even Josh did it on Buffy! Willow clearly loved and enjoyed sex with Oz. But when she is with Tara, suddenly she is lesbian, not bi? But the evil Willow from the alternative universe is allowed to be openly bi. Doctor Who is the first SF/F television series (BBC made, of course) I have seen with an openly bisexual character – Captain Jack Harkness. So popular he now has a spin-off series, Torchwood. But even he is shown to have what might be considered “flexible” ethics.

I am bisexual. Always have been. But I also have one of the strongest sense of personal ethics you are likely to run across. Some friends consider them too inflexible, in fact. I wouldn’t have sex with anyone in my research projects no matter how tempted. I won’t have sex with someone who I know is in a monogamous relationship. (I have been lied to about it, but that is different.) I have a strong personal code against lying, even so-called white lies. I believe that killing another human being should be a last resort even in self-defense. And even then, it should be mourned, not celebrated. And so on.

I would like to challenge more fanfiction (and other writers) to recognize that bisexuality is not only real, but that being bi doesn’t erode any of our essential humanity. We can be as much in love and just as ethical as anyone else. (Or as hateful and fucked up.) There are a ton of websites and books out there on bisexuality, so if you haven’t already, maybe you should educate yourself about the topic.

So I haven’t been posting here much lately. Been actually writing quite a bit but haven’t reformatted and translated from the RPG format to fiction format the parts we have finished. I will try to get some more posted here soon.

We have a friend staying with us right now and since one can’t really ask me what is going on in my life right now without hearing more than most want about my writing/gaming, the has been following some of the stories.

Here is one of the paragraphs she wrote in her LJ about the experience of staying here: I’ve been treated to hearing (slashpervert) read me some of her erotica. It’s not just about the sex, either… I love getting the details about her characters, watching their personalities being revealed, learning their histories, and just seeing how they react to one another as they get to know each other. I love the tension building.

I love feedback. It always makes me want to write more. In my professional life, I love to search google and find new reviews of my books. I really believe that as a writer, I am an exhibitionist. I don’t just like to write, I love to be read. I want to communicate, excite, entertain and make people think.

My kitten was killed tonight. Run over by a car. He was six months old. Our beautiful baby was the inspiration for Draco’s cat, Cocoa, in my fan fiction. Wish him safe passage.

Sixth year ended abruptly with the death of Albus Dumbledore and since his departure for “his next great adventure” into the after life, the Wizarding world has been a flurry of action. The summer was filled with seemingly random Death Eater attacks, like it was a pre-celebration of their victory over the Light. After all, the illustrious Order of the Phoenix had lost their leader. The most renowned of these assaults would have had to have been the attack on Diagon Alley in broad daylight, causing irreplaceable damage and almost all hope to be lost.

Despite this, or maybe because of this, new Headmistress Minerva McGonagall opened Hogwarts’ gates once more to those willing to continue their education, much to the Ministry of Magic’s chagrin. Many did not return but among those that did were the infamous “Golden Trio” of Gryffindor – including a reluctant Harry Potter, who still had the burden of carrying on in Dumbledore’s quest to find the missing Horcruxes – and surprisingly, Draco Malfoy, who had been in hiding since the night of Dumbledore’s death. Changes are afoot as Slytherins find that three leaders in their house turn away from the Dark Lord and form the “Silver Trio.”

Who will stand with these new leaders? Who will oppose them? How will Harry and his allies find and destroy the Horcruxes? What about the final showdown with Voldemort? And will that end it, or is there more to the Death Eaters than we know? Dark, mysterious and beautiful forces are at work.

This is an AU 7th Year Trio Era Hogwarts RPG set after the death of Albus Dumbledore. We are canon up until the end of HBP. We have a fun back story and exciting plot in development. We are gay, femme, het and bi ship-friendly AND we have plot! We are having fun, so come play with us!

So I started writing a Harry Potter fan fiction story. The previous is an illustration and a prophecy from the story. This piece will be both plot and character driven, and erotic in content. It will include descriptions of male/female, female/female, male/male, male/female/female, male/male/female and other possible combinations of sex. It will include both consentual and non-consentual siutations.

So should I share it? Would you be interested in reading it? Beta volunteer?

This weekend I came across one of the most amazing fan fiction pieces I have yet to read. Very, very well written. It is also a pretty hardcore BDSM piece, so only read if you can handle that. It is a pairing of Doctor Who #9 and Captain Jack Harkness. In it, Jack is trying to seduce the Doctor and taps into the dark side of grief and guilt.

Okay, so have always had a thing about pirates. And yesterday, I was reminded of where my pirate fetish came from. I was flipping through the guide channel on TV and found an old favorite I hadn’t seen in many years — Captain Blood. Oh, Errol Flynn was so amazing.

I was also amazed to realize you could SOOOOO slash that picture! When Jeremy (the navigator) looks at Peter Blood, it is very clear that he adores him. The look is pure love. And he even is tortured to keep the secret of their plan. Then Peter Blood comes to help him and defies the slaver for him. Oh, my god. I will have to get a copy of that! I may have to write some Peter/Jeremy slash!

The other genre of Errol Flynn movie that my earliest adventure and sexual fantasy stories was, of course, Robin Hood! Sigh, all those “merry men.” Fans self. I had lots of fantasies about being Robin’s favorite.
